The Baby Doulas
Big things sometimes come in the cutest, tiniest packages! You're having a baby and we are so glad you found us!
Meet Owner and Founder Tammy Gallagher
Owner of The Baby Doulas, Tammy Gallagher, has been providing balance and support to expecting mothers and new families for more than twenty years! When you reach out to Tammy, she will immediately put you at ease. You both will discuss your specific needs and requirements and based on that information, Tammy will pair you with the best birth and/or postpartum doula for you and your family. Tammy and the doula will guide you and your family to a successful transition into your new life with your baby.
The Baby Doulas are the number one choice for families seeking the highest quality birth and newborn care in Delaware County, Chester County, Montgomery County, Philadelphia, Delaware, and New Jersey.
Many people often ask “What Exactly is the difference between a Birth Doula and a Postpartum Doula?” We are here to explain.
What Exactly is a Birth Doula?
You asked; we delivered…well, actually YOU will deliver, and we would love to support you through the process! Our team of birth doulas have been eagerly waiting to announce that… we are now accepting birth clients! As more and more clients, and potential clients, were asking we decided it only made sense to add this to our repertoire. Plus, having the same group of doulas for birth and postpartum, with seamless transition, helps with continuity, giving our clients peace of mind with their new addition.
Prenatal Support
Preparing for birth can be daunting! Let our birth doulas walk you through any questions/decisions, write a birth plan/wish list, and be there as your sounding board.
Birth, Labor and Immediate Postpartum Support
When you think you are in labor, one of the first people you call is your doula. This starts the ball rolling letting us know it may be time! We stay in close communication with you until we see you live at the hospital or birth center. Once you’ve arrived, we will be there with you every step of the way during labor.
Postpartum Visit
Once you are home with your new bundle of joy, your birth doula will come by to check on you. There are often many questions that arise in these first couple of days, so we will be there to help you navigate any concerns.
What Exactly is a Postpartum Doula?
Our postpartum doulas are trained and certified postpartum and infant care doulas. Whereas baby nurses focus only on the care for the newborn baby, our postpartum doulas are trained to provide care for both the baby, the mother, and the entire family unit (partner, siblings). Our services include newborn specialists, post birth recovery (understanding recovery from both vaginal and surgical birth), lactation support, formula feeding, sleep training, and newborn hygiene care (diapering and baths). We understand that this can be a challenging time for new parents, so we are here to help guide and transition you into your new life with your precious newborn! You will likely have a million thoughts running through your mind and probably a bit of trepidation too. But also within you is the instinct and know-how to succeed mentality. Our job is to help you attune to those feelings more quickly!
